Creeping Thistle Leaf - Damage caused by a Thistle Tortoise Beetle
Which in itself is a fascinating creature in that the male reproductive organ is almost as long as its body because of the curious coiled shape in part of the female reproductive organ.
According to wikipedia a research project into this remarkable organ that does not buckle or rapture on this scale may have implications in the development of catheters for use with humans.
